Pet friendly Lubbock For guests

You found the perfect place. Great location, great reviews, the right number of beds. And then you scroll down to the house rules: No pets.

Ugh. Now you're pricing out a boarding kennel and feeling guilty about it.

We get it. For a lot of y'all, the dog isn't "the dog," they're part of the family, and a trip isn't a trip without them. That's why 10 of our Lubbock homes welcome pets, with yards, patios and plenty of room to stretch out after a long drive across West Texas.

Our pet-friendly homes

Good Vibes Only (2 bedrooms, sleeps 4). Vibrant, colorful and pet-friendly, with a yard your pup will love. One guest wrote that it was dog-friendly "down to the thoughtfulness of setting up the yard in a safe way."

Mulberry House (3 bedrooms, sleeps 4). A pet-friendly home near Texas Tech, with a garage and space to settle in.

Texas Trails (2 bedrooms, sleeps 4). A home near TTU with a fenced yard, so the dog can sniff around while you sip your coffee.

Historic Firehouse (1 bedroom, sleeps 2). A converted firehouse with a private fenced patio that's "a safe space for your pets to roam and play." Walk to campus, then come home to a Ms. Pac-Man arcade.

Irish Goodbye (2 bedrooms, sleeps 4). A stylish retreat near Texas Tech that welcomes pets.

The Charleston (3 bedrooms, sleeps 6). A house with a game room and patio, a little bit of old-school charm.

Rhythm of Lubbock (2 bedrooms, sleeps 4). A jukebox, a private backyard and a nod to Buddy Holly.

Admiral's Cottage (2 bedrooms, sleeps 5). A cozy cottage near Texas Tech.

Our pet policy, in plain English

  • Tell us about your pet when you book. It's a $75 pet fee per pet, added to your reservation.

  • Undisclosed pets get a fine. Surprise pups are cute, surprise fees are not. Just tell me in advance so we don't have to deal with that later.

  • Supervise or kennel. Pets are welcome but need an adult with them or a kennel when you're out.

  • Clean up the yard. Please pick up after your pet so the next family can enjoy it too. No one wants to check into a house with evidence of a pet in the grass when they arrive.

  • Damage happens. You're responsible for any damage your pet causes, so a quick look around before you head out goes a long way.

A few Lubbock spots your dog will love

Treats

  • J's Creamery (5101 82nd St). A Lubbock favorite. Bring your pup to the patio or the drive-thru and order a Pup Cone. Last we heard, little ones and dogs get a free baby cone. Easy peasy.

  • Bahama Buck's. Dog-friendly patio, and they'll make your pup a doggy snow-ball. One of my family's favorites, and it's toddler and dog friendly.

Dog parks

  • Canyon Run Dog Park. Fully fenced and open late, so you can squeeze in zoomies after dinner. This is my dog's favorite park, so don't miss this one. Honestly, it might be one of the prettiest parts of Lubbock.

  • Hub City Unleashed. One of the City of Lubbock's official dog parks.

Patios that welcome pups

  • Cook's Garage. Live music and a big patio. A must for a true Lubbock night out. Watch their calendar for car shows, concerts and other events. Such a fun place to visit!

  • Bier Haus. Water bowls and treats for the dogs, German beer for you.

  • Snooze and Chuy's. Easy brunch or Tex-Mex with patio seating for the whole crew. Call ahead to make sure they can make it work with your pup, and keep an eye on the weather. Sitting in the rain during dinner is no fun.

  • Two Docks Brewing Co. Local craft beer with plenty of room for your pup to hang out.

  • The Range. An outdoor driving range and bar. Hit a bucket of balls while your dog people-watches.

Get outside

  • Lubbock Arboretum. One of the greenest spots in town and one of the most beautiful places to walk, especially when the leaves turn.

  • Buffalo Springs Lake. If you bring your dog to Lubbock, don't miss this one. Trails, water and wide-open West Texas sky.

  • First Friday Art Trail. Stroll downtown galleries and food trucks on the first Friday of every month.

  • Farmers markets. The Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market and the Wolfforth Farmers Market are perfect for a slow Saturday morning with your pup.

  • SUP LBK (summer). Rent a paddleboard and bring your dog out on the water with you. Yes, really.

Pet-friendly stores

Need supplies, or just want to get out of the house? Academy, Home Depot, Lowe's, PetSmart and Tractor Supply all welcome leashed pets, and they're always a fun stop with your furry friend.

Policies change, so give them a quick call before you go.
